While students were out of school during the March break, the Hands of a Hero Foundation provided an opportunity to make the most out of the vacation by providing a March Break Youth Program aimed to empower and mentor school aged youths. The program was three days long and focused on a specific theme each day, day one was focused on leadership, day two was all about career, and day three talked about social media and self-esteem. Each day a group of ten youths participated in many discussions and activities to help expand their minds and build character.
The energy and level of participation was exceptionally high and impressive, and as the days progressed we saw changes and growth in the students involved. Some learned to come out of their shell, while others learned how to direct their enthusiasm better. But all together, the volunteer facilitators and youth combined, experienced a priceless development of person and mind.
The March Break Youth Program was a resounding success as the participants left with a better sense of self, valuable insight on the working world, and equipped with new leadership skills. We look forward to keeping in contact with the participants to watch them grow and offer more opportunities in the future, as well as providing this program again in next year.
